A husband commissioned this life story piece to honor his beloved wife, JoAnn. In person, JoAnn exudes a quiet modesty and self-effacing charm. Yet hidden behind her unassuming exterior is a talented and multi-faceted woman who has lived a fascinating life of generosity and compassion, and whose amazing spirit enriches the lives of everyone she meets.
Uncovering the real JoAnn, however, is no simple task. That is why we chose to illustrate her life story with hidden picture art. Getting to know JoAnn is more of a quest, or a hunt for buried treasure, that is well worth the effort because as each hidden image is discovered, a clue is revealed that sheds more light on her remarkable character.
The cartoon-like style of the illustration also holds a special significance. It alludes to JoAnn’s whimsical nature and the way she lives each day with her own personal brand of humor, fascination, and imagination.
For a finishing touch, hand decorated paste papers were custom made for the slipcase, book, and artwork covers. They, too, tell a story of their own. The feather-like brush strokes and the blue and green color scheme are representative of JoAnn’s love for birds, particularly parakeets and her mixed-breed Conure, Green Bean. And the flecks of
24K gold leaf found throughout the design signify her intrinsic goodness. As anyone who knows her will tell you, JoAnn has a heart of gold. |
